Were Your Child’s Services Cut?
In these difficult economic times, many infants and toddlers are now losing their eligibility for Early Start services. If this affects your family or you know of others in this situation, please encourage them to read the attached flyer which comes from the Infant Development Association (IDA).

New Child Care Resource for Families with a Child having Special Needs
The Inclusion Collaborative, a subcommittee of the Orange County Child Care & Development Planning Council, is proud to announce that a new resource has been developed to assist families who have children with special needs locate child care. A website now lists child care programs -- both center and family providers – who are “welcoming” to these children and families. The child care providers may have received special training and/or had experience in working with children with disabilities. Families and professionals can review this listing at www.ucp-oc.org/childcare
If you are aware of a child care/preschool program that successfully works with young children having special needs, but does not appear on the list, please encourage the Director of the program to complete the attached form and send it to UCP. We would like to expand this list in order to provide parents with as many useful options as possible.
We are currently working on a second listing of before- and after-school programs. We hope this will be available on UCP-OC’s website in a few months.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Kathleen McFarlin at UCP of Orange County (949.333.6413) or kmcfarlin@ucp-oc.org.
